Process of credit transfer

List of accredited modules

The Examinations Office publishes a list of modules and sub-modules from other universities abroad that can be recognised in a simplified procedure. The list includes modules that have been recognised here at the faculty in the past. Please check whether the module is still offered at the partner university AND whether it is listed in your respective degree programme.

If your course is on this list, you do NOT need to obtain additional confirmation from a chair in order to have the course recognised. However, it is necessary to list the course on the application for credit transfer with the note ‘see list of credited modules in past’. Submit the application + the transcript of records (= original version) to the Examinations Office. It should also be noted that compulsory modules cannot be recognized.

Process of credit transfer

  1. For the credit transfer you use the corresponding application form.
  2. List all the courses you would like to have accredited on the application form.
  3. Make a comparison with the list of accredited modules: If your course is on this list, you do NOT need to obtain additional confirmation from a chair in order to have the course accredited. Note ‘see list of accredited modules’ on the application form for the relevant module. Then submit the application form + the transcript of records (= original version) to the Examinations Office.
  4. If your course is not on this list, please contact the professors or lecturers responsible for the individual modules at the University of Würzburg with important course details (content, structure, semester hours per week, examination type and duration, list of accompanying literature if applicable). Obtain information on the respective chair pages regarding the procedure (see list below). As a rule, submit the application form + transcript to the chair. After approval, the respective chair forwards the application form directly to the Examination Office.
  5. The lecturer responsible can then either recognise the course as an equivalent for an existing module or as a ‘placeholder’. If a course is accredited as an equivalent, you can no longer take the corresponding module at the Faculty. It is also possible, however, that an examination taken abroad will be classified as non-accreditable.
  6. If you cannot find a lecturer who could be responsible for one of your courses, please contact the international coordinator Prof. Dr. Hans Fehr
  7. Please note that the application form + the transcript of records must be submitted to the Examination Office in the original or in a notarised version. For notarisations, please contact Ms Briglmeir, ausland@wiwi.uni-wuerzburg.de
