Habilitation
Information for habilitation candidates
The habilitation is a standard requirement in Germany for appointment as a university professor. The habilitation is the highest-ranking university examination in Germany, with which the teaching qualification in an academic subject is determined within the framework of an academic examination procedure. The recognition of the teaching qualification (§ 13 para. 1 + 2) is the prerequisite for the additional granting of the teaching licence or teaching authorisation, which, in contrast to the teaching qualification, is linked to compliance with regular teaching obligations.
