Thesis
Bachelor's thesis
General Information
The Chair of Econometrics offers bachelor's thesis topics for students of "Wirtschaftsmathematik" and "Wirtschaftswissenschaften". Before writing the thesis it is strongly recommended to take the elective module Computerpraktikum QWF.
The application is carried out via the centrally organised application procedure Flip by the Dean of Studies (Studiendekanat). To apply the current transcript of records has to be uploaded on the portal Flip.
The processing time is eight weeks. The thesis has to be submitted to the Prüfungsamt twice in written form with adhesive binding as well as on an electronic storage medium in a common format and stored in readable form in due time as provided for in the examination regulations. The processing time can be arranged more flexibly in agreement with the Chair of Econometrics.
Further formal instructions for the preparation of an academic paper can be found here.
Topics
Topics for bachelor theses are given in individual arrangement with the chair staff and should be related to the content of the bachelor courses of the chair. Bachelor theses should always contain both a methodological part and an empirical application in which the theoretically explained contents are applied. For the empirical application, sample data sets, such as those contained in the statistical program "Gretl", can be used.

Topics
Topics are given in individual agreement with the members of the chair. Topics can either be linked to the contents of the master courses of the chair, i.e. in particular to the courses Econometrics 3 and Financial Market Econometrics, or deal with other econometric methods. In addition to a theoretical part, in which the corresponding method is explained theoretically, master theses should also contain an empirical part, in which the theoretically explained contents are applied practically. For this purpose, sample data sets from e.g. R can be used.
