Faculty
The Faculty of Economics was founded together with the Faculty of Law in 1968 from the Faculty of Law and Political Science. Currently, the faculty consists of two institutes (BWL and VWL), to which various chairs, professorships, junior professorships, working groups, research assistants and administrative positions are assigned. These provide a broad and research-oriented education for approximately 2,500 students. Studies and teaching at the faculty are designed to teach the theories, models and methods of the economic disciplines of business administration and economics in accordance with the current state of research and the qualification level (bachelor, master, doctorate). Societal, social and environmental impacts are also taken into account. In this context, the ability to make scientific judgments and arguments is of particular importance. More information is available in the faculty brochure.
In light of the high teaching workload, the research achievements - documented in publications and third-party funding - are remarkable. Our chairs are currently involved in various DFG and EU projects. Research at the faculty is divided into three main areas:

How to reach the New University by public transport:
The headquarters of the Faculty of Economics is located in the New University at Sanderring 2. Due to the very limited number of parking spaces available, we recommend that you use public transportation. A few bus lines, such as line 16, stop almost directly in front of the building. However, the other bus as well as tram lines are also only a few minutes' walk from the New University.
Are you planning your journey to other locations of the Faculty of Economic Sciences? Then you can find a map with all relevant buildings and institutions here.
